America Recycles Day Graphic

While November is known as Thanksgiving month, at RetirePC we celebrate an extra holiday this month.

Nov 15, 2021, is the date of this year’s America Recycles Day. Although not everyone knows about this holiday, we’re here to explain what it is and what you can do to make the most of America Recycles Day every year.

What is America Recycles Day?

America Recycles Day was created in 1997 as an extension of Texas Recycles Day, which was branded in 1994. America Recycles Day serves as another environmentally-driven holiday that is often compared to Earth Day.

The November 15 holiday celebrates Americans recycling across the nation.

From plastics to electronics, there is always the opportunity for someone to play their part in reducing the nearly 6 pounds of trash that individual Americans create each day!

What Can You Do to Celebrate?

While America Recycles Day isn’t a holiday that excuses people from work or school, there are still plenty of activities that can take place during the holiday that help the local environment.

  1. Review Your Site’s Older Electronics

If you know that your location’s electronics are out-of-date, it may be time to start thinking about recycling options. One way you can review your older electronics is to send out a company-wide survey that asks for employees’ honest opinions about the state of your electronics and how the age of their systems impacts their job satisfaction.

Now is the time to go back and check all of the IT tickets you’ve submitted in the last year and tally up the time and money that went into total annual repairs. If you find that your company is bleeding out IT repairs or that your employees have substantial issues with available electronics, it’s officially time to schedule a recycling pick-up.

  1. Set Some Green Goals at Your Facility

Whether your goals are as simple as adding extra recycling bins around the office or as complex as physically gathering up and organizing old electronics for recycling, setting goals in the workplace is an excellent idea.

There’s no better time to start setting goals than on America Recycles Day. In fact, we say plan ahead and make November. 15, your company-wide official rollout date for any new recycling initiatives you’d like to add to your repertoire.

  1. Take the “Be Recycled” Pledge

America Recycles Day gives you and your employees the opportunity to take the Be Recycled Pledge!

This is a simple promise to continue learning about recycling, acting in the best interest of the environment, and sharing all of the knowledge you have about recycling with your friends and family.

  1. Find Out What Electronics You Can Safely Recycle

Recycling has never been easier than it is today. So, do some research and find out which electronics are accepted at your local recycling plants.

At RetirePC, we readily accept the following items:

  • Computers
  • Modems
  • Circuit Boards
  • Cell Phones
  • Monitors
  • Servers
  • Telecommunication Equipment
  1. Say No to Plastic Bags

At RetirePC, we care about the environment as a whole, and that’s why we’ve opted to include a recycling act that doesn’t involve electronics.

Plastic bags contribute to thousands of tons of waste every year, so, if you can start saying no to bags at the store and investing in reusable totes, you could make a large, positive impact on your environment.
